top-quality schappe silk

Schappe silk is obtained from the initial and end fibres as well as the damaged cocoons of the silkworms. The raw material is cleaned and combed after removal of the silk gum. The combed top produced in this way is spun in a special schappe spinning technique, subsequently it is twisted and dyed. The difference between schappe and A-1 silk consists in the fact that schappe silk is made of staple fibres whereas A-1 silk is a filament thread.
