KEVLAR

KEVLAR is an extremely tear-resistant, spun sewing thread of heat-resisting para-aramide (aromatic polyamide). It does not melt, is self-extinguishing and has flame resistant properties, but is not flameproof. It has a high continuous infusibility and a good resistance to acids, beta and gamma rays, as well as X-rays, a very high specific strength and a high dimensional stability.

Infusibility:
Decomposition temperature app. 500 - 550°C
Continuous infusibility up to app. 180°C. Minimal heat shrinkage (even in flames)
